Nokia Video Manager (part of PC Suite) is supposed to convert different video formats, but the "high quality" setting is permanently dimmed out and the resulting files at "medium" quality are appalling.

Recommended alternatives, please?

Suggest search this forum since there are numerious posts with lot of info about alternative SW.

Download media coder totally free and use the iPod extension to convert perfectly every time!!

Mac OS X users can download Instant Handbrake to rip directly from DVD to iPod/N95/PSP MP4 format.
To convert downloaded DivX/Xvid files just use iSquint.
