To replace the shite version of the operating system on my Orange P990i that Orange seem to have messed about with. I'd like to have a generic version if possible.
I thought my menus were very bad and not very user friendly until i saw a P990i with a different version of the operating system.
One of the main things i find is that when looking in your recieved sms folder and it gives you the option to check one or more messages, I don't have any option to delete the sms messages i have checked. My friends does have this option.
Venom,
There are a few ways to do it. Take a look at http://uiq3.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/CDA/Change for the different methods.

Thanks a lot for that info hammera. I think i have found something in that link that will be useful.
Remember that if you're paying Orange for phone insurance, you are wasting your money when you replace their firmware with the generic one...
Replacing firmware invalidates your warranty....
Thanks for that extra info as well MrE. I shall cancel my insurance too. I don't know why i bother with it tbh because i have only ever had a need to use the insurance once.
Thinking about the insurance thing for a little bit longer i think i will keep it. If anything happens to my phone i can always damage it and get a new one or throw it away and pretend it was stolen or something. Without the insurance i would be stuffed if something did go wrong.
