Problem with my N73 when trying to restore from backup after f. update!

Hello!
I am experiencing a very unpleasant thing. After updating the firmware from a ME version (I think the last one) to the standard new one (4.0726.2.0.1 26-06-2007), when i try to restore from the backup I had made on the memory card before the update, the phone gives me a warning(the phone will restart!) and it restarts and nothing happens, it doesn't restore anything. I get the warning about 2 seconds after putting it to restore. I tried doing this a lot of times but nothing happens, it just restarts. Now.. i believe the backup file must be corrupt or something, but at least i would want to open it on the PC as I had
some very important contacts and messages in it. Any idea on how I would do that? Do I need like a Symbian emulator for that? The file is named backup.arc and is found in the hidden folder "backup" on the memory card. I tried opening it with winrar, winzip, wordpad, but with no use. 😞 If anyone has any ideea on how to open that damn file or to make it restore successfully, pls help me..this is very important..thanks in advance!

Same problem here. It's rather annoying. First time I didn't make a back-up on the PC and this happens!

Anybody know if the backup.arc file that the backup is stored in can be read by PC Suite or another pc utility?

Will look into it and post back if I find any solution...

my advice is for you to also use the back up feature of nokia suite.. Either way in case the phone backup failed, you have another one saved from your pc..
