Hi guys i've just joined hope all are well.

I purchased a N73 unlocked this week & have done a firmware upgrade was (2.0628.0.01) to (4.0726.2.01).
Everything went well phone seems to be running good.

Now i've tried to put the same firmware on my brother N73 currently on orange but the firmware only updated to (V 3.0704.1.0.1).

Can i not update his firmware anymore?

Thanks in advance

hiya
your bros handset is operator branded the updater wrks on product codes your bros will have a different product code to yours

verify this by looking under your batterys

network providers are slack with there firmware you have updtaed to the generic nokia one because of his code being related to orange he has to wait for them to pull there finger out and verify the firmware all good so they can release there own messed up version via the updater

you can change your product code

its a quck process but a little long winded for me to explain as its late

simply ask jeeves or google

N73 MUSIC FIRMWARE

or scout this forum

nokiablogg is a good place for step by step instructions 😊 youll need to download a program called nemisis sercie suite to change it.its easy and safe but it will void your bros warranty

simply change the code -- trick updater into thinking you have a sim free unbranded nokia-- itll give you latest firmware--install it-- then change product code back to what it was incase of probs in the future 😊

things to remeber

allways have phone in general and never remove usb cable

also just back up contacts NOT any phone settings people are having troubles after they have reinstalled there old data from a phone that has had it changed summin to do with having a different product code etc

hope that helped a bit mate have a good 1
