I really liked Jaiku but in the past it was draining my battery too quickly. I am very happy to see they have added a battery conservation mode. Thank you Jaiku devs!
Now, however, with the new version, the means it uses to connect have been changed. I was able to connect with the older client, with this new release I cannot. I am using a somewhat restricted data plan from my provider (T-Mobile in the US). It is relatively open, however some ports are restricted and I believe that UDP is disabled. The only other service I have encountered that will not work is Orb (Media streaming software). Opera, OperaMini (v3 and v4beta), IM, ShoZu, SymTorrent, Internet Radio,E-Mail... all of these work (most I believe are on port 80, but not all). So I was just hoping that they could offer a choice of connection type or a user configurable port option.
