I need the backlight on when slider open AND is on charge, eg used in the car.
Anyone have any idea how to do this? Appreciate it.

Backlight on when open and on power - how?
BestProfiles has an option to put the backlight on when charging, but doesn't fit your second criteria of "when slider is open"... it does it whether open or closed.
I downloaded the SDK in an effort to try and write my own one of these, because I don't like the bloat of bestprofiles, and with v12 of firmware, it doesn't unlock the phone when charging (it alternates between screen saver and phone, very annoying when driving!)

It's so annoying, stuff that was a simple tick in a box (touch screen may I add) on my windows phones and I'm struggling to do it at ALL on the N95.
However backlight on when charging is better than nothing I guess... Mind you I don't want to wear out the backlight when charging in the house or light up the bedroom at night - is the former a risk?
Just had a thought - is there a simple app that can be run that has the effect of keeping the backlight on? Like it wouldn't switch off when playing a movie, can something little be run that until exited keeps the backlight on, one could then tab to the today screen and enjoy.

Search for SmartLight app, it keep backlight, if any but standby/desktop app active, very handy.
