I'm on Orange Talk and surf (something like that) which means I can plug a phone into my wifi box and get free calls via broadband connection. (Also have another number beginning 0845).
Can I use my Orange (debranded, latest firmware) to utilise this facility via the wifi link? Can't think why not, Orange are practically begging me to use the thing)
If I can, would incoming calls to the 0845 number be picked up by the N95?
i've never herd of anything like that on any netwrok, nore do i get why you have a nother no, but by the sounds of it you could pick up calls on the other no (but don't take my work for it, try it out first with a mate calling you or talk to orange in a shop or online) btw witch country are you in to get thet service?
In the UK!
I have an Orange 'box' which gives me my WLAN, but they say I can plug a phone in and use their phone service which gives me an 0845 no. Apparently I can receive and make calls on this number and they are free at weekends and off peak.
You just plug a normal phone in, but I wondered if you can use the N95. I haven't actually used it the normal phone technique yet (just laziness in buying a new normal phone 😮)
I have an 0845 number registered on my account. I can also switch it to a city code if I like eg 0161 or 0151 (even if I don't live there). They are supposed to be bringing local codes in too for smaller towns. Apparently though I can have a (say) London code even though I don't live there!.
This does work as I have changed my number a couple of times (just for the sake of it), but still not used the thing 😮)
well it sounds like it would work fine on the n95 (don't see why it wouldent) just give it a try, i don't see what harm it could do. just ask orange if anything gose wrong ( don't take my word for anything ask orange before if you think it could do any harm.)
you have one hell of a service never herd of anything like it before personaly.
I think its pretty much a standard Orange package.
Just had a go...connected N95 to WLAN and tried to ring my own number hoping for an engaged tone, but it rand, so haven't done it right.
Will try again and let you know...meanwhile if anybody has an answer?
