Hello all... I need your help... I've recently stopped using my N95 and moved to a new P1i but I can not get my gmail to send and recieve. Please can someone give me the correct settings?
My N95 worked without problem so I copied the settings over, but without success... I could use the GMAIL mobile app, available to download from gmail.com/app but I would rather use the messaging software already installed (I want scheduled downloads).
This is what I have so far...
Account name: Gmail
Your name: xxxxxx
Email address: xxxxxx
Connection type: POP3
Incoming server address: pop.googlemail.com
Username: xxxxxx
Password: xxxxxxx
Download restrictions: none
Outgoing server address: smtp.googlemail.com
Use SMTP authentication: YES
Use Inbox login details: YES
Advanced: Incoming:
Secure connection: SSL
Incoming mail port: 995
Secure password authentication: NO
Advanced: Outgoing:
Secure connection: SSL
Outgoing mail port: 587
Use MIME encoding: YES
Please help... thanks...
My settings are the same as yours with the exception of the Advanced: Outgoing. Mine are set as;
Secure connection: TLS
Outgoing mail port: 25
Use MIME encoding: YES
Give them a try and let me know.

Thanks Hammera. I tried the settings you gave but still no luck...

Aren't you supposed to have pop.gmail.com vs smtp.gmail.com as incoming/outgoing instead of pop.googlemail.com..... 😉
And you could try TLS port 465 on outgoing it it doesn't work with SSL.
The only other setting that I imagine could be wrong is your Internet account group. Can you surf the net over GPRS/3G? If you can, is your email set to use the same group?
Beyond that I'm lost as mine works with the settings stated above (Vodafone UK).
Hope you get it sorted.

Still no luck... I can use the internet and all else is fine and the TLS solution, advised above, didn't work (thanks anyway)...😊
I don't want to go back to the N95 but unless I can use Gmail (via messaging), I'll have to. Also the video playback on the P1i is not as good. Unless someone can tell me the best settings(?)
Anyway... thanks again...
Last stab. These are settings that are stated to be working on a P1i on another forum.
If it still doesn't work I can only imagine it's a network issue (stabbing in the dark now).

Just to make sure:
You did change the domain setting from "xxx.googlemail.com" to "xxx.gmail.com"?
And as hammera said, must be a network/IAP problem. Does the IAP that you're using for connection have a proxy and port defined (..anything but 8080)?
If so, try remove proxy (..or copy the IAP and remove it from the new one. Make sure to use this when connecting to e-mail).
An IAP with proxy may prohibit trafikk through ports needed by Gmail e-mail service.

I did change the 'pop.googlemail.com and smtp.googlemail.com' to 'gmail' but it didn't help... I think that Hammera is right that it is most likely a network problem. How do I check and change the 'IAP proxy'?
