P800 Keyboard!

14 replies · 3,874 views · Started 16 January 2003

HI, I think most or all of P800 owners would need a little keyboard to attach...

so here is the qs..
Is there any of those small attachable keyboards in development??

thanks in advance

Well... Ericsson always had the CHA-10 chatboard. They were actually the first mobile phone company to offer an official keyboard attachment.

well to be honest, i'm happy with the virtual keyboard, i kinda like "tapping" !! and it's fun!!
Have a look at the following.

http://www.flexis.co.kr/web/fxcubebt.htm
Layout : 86 keys

- OS : more info

- Lightweight : 180g

- Size(mm) : 320x110x2.5

- Color : Black

- Interface : serial type

- Power consumption : 10mA

- Frequency : 6Mhz

- Operation : 5V
I have some doubts regarding serial Connectivity and the Power consumption...

This is the device we need : -

It only needs a infra red driver written, I have emailed the company asking them and will let you know the reply.

If you have a 3rd party Word like app and used the P800 landscape thus would be ideal for me.

I think the tap virtual keyboard is fine for quick access but if you are sat on a plane or train for hours this would allow you todo serious input.

I would rather use this than carry a laptop, I have used one with my Pocketpc and ist real nice.

just to add to that:-

The keyboard, for Palm and PocketPC uses a mirror device that reflects the beam down to the keyboard, looks OK works well but I never realy liked the look of it.

The P800 has the infra red on the side rather than the top like Palm and PocketPC so it would not need this which really makes it ideal for the P800.

Sorry, no go with these ones because P800 does not support the required HID (Human Interface Device) BT profile

Actually, "serial connectivity" is probably what makes this BT keyboard the only BT keyboar suitable for P800 use because P800 supports BT-Serial profile but does not support the HID commonly used for BT keyboards.
