E90 ext screen vs N95 screen

I've been using the N95 for a couple of days now and I just love it:icon14: . I like the simplicity of the S60 , and the level of productivity one can achieve with one handed use. The screen's really sharp and love the way a lot of info is displayed in Papyrus. I m waiting to get an E90😊 . My question is, how does the E90 ext screen fare? I would like to be able to do all the things that I'm able to do on an N95, for example with regards to using the calendar . Is this reasonably possible?

ps Ewan Spence's The Nokia E90 At The Fringe, pt 2 was interesting read with this regard.

As I read about both devices (I have E61i), using the external display of E90 you can do most of what you can do using N95's diplay. But E90's external display is smaller than the one of N95. But if you differentiate between the two devices, E90 is better.

Great amount of RAM (80 MB free at standby in E90 against 22 MB in N95).
Full business software.
Internal wide screen with which you can browse full width web pages.
Full QWERTY keyboard.
Good bettery life (bettery of N95 is so poor)
Office editor.

N95 miss all that. E90 also has a 3.2 mp camera that capture VGA videos. You can call it a compact laptop. With it you have the simplicity of normal screen with one-handed keypad, and the advanced features using the internal display and keyboard.

Good luck

Thanks for the reply....dont get me wrong, but I completely agree that the E90 is a better kit:icon14: , or at least according to me. (I ve done my part of late night surfing pouring over reviews and watching You tube review videos😮 😛cguru: ) . My concern was if I would be able to be as productive with one hand as I am on the N95 if I need to be. May be E90 owners would be able to shed some light?:con?

You can be as productive as with the N95 one handed by using the extern screen, even though it's a little bit smaller, but you also have the advantage of the internal screen. All the applications can be used with the external screen, at least from what I know.

everithing works on external display, like on N95, but I dont know how productive you will be, or how you measure your productivity if you consider, that E90's ext. screen is smaller, than N95's.

productivity for me is to be able to operate PIM - make, alter, review(month view with icons in papyrus, for eg) appointments quickly without being tempted to open the internal screen, quick sms, and read emails- of which to be able to satisfactorily operate PIM like the papyrus is the most important. I guess I am slightly concerned :frown: about the smaller size of the external screen, but then I heard that the resolution is actually not bad. I think I ll truly be able to put my mind at rest when I actually see the phone is flesh:hmpf: ...oh, vodafone:dontknow: ..man! am i losing my patience here in edinburgh, festival and all notwithstanding!!😡

On a happier note, my N95 will soon be unlocked,,,:top:

The resolution of the external display is identical to this of N95. I don't think that its size is bad for one-handed usage. You will miss the pencil key, which is alternated with the Shift key in the internal keyboard. I don't know how it's represented outside. Any way, when you move from N95 to E90, you have great productivity. For me, N95 is not productive at all. It's a great multimedia smartphone, but has many drawbacks. 😉

Thanks..coming from windows mobile, I was pleasantly surprised how symbian has evolved, and how the N95 was such a pleasure to operate. Yes, it is plasticky and yes the battery could be better and definitely memory could be improved. But its compact, ok to look at, and its a proper symbian smart phone when you need it...and yes, I agree the E90 is better😉 .

For pencil, cut and paste on external screen, just hold down the hash # key
