dear folks,
i got a new n95. i defined wlan access point. i tried to use various security settings available but all didnt connect to wlan.(though access points were defined, wlan connection didnt establish)
i tried ad-hoc connection, open encryption type. now it goes to some extent but returns error saying ' no gateway reply'.
i have a secured wlan router. i would just need to connect to my wlan router and access internet from n95.
please help
Cheers
Vinz
See if you have the last firmware version on it... if not do the upgrade and try again.
Based on your info above I'm somewhat confused.
You say you have a WLAN router but don't seem to now what kind of security it runs/has enabled....?
Provide more info.
If you do not now this you can try all the various settings you want on your N95, you'll probably never get it right....
So, what are your security settings on the WLAN router:
- MAC filter enabled?
- WEP (64/128/256bit)? Now the passphrase?
- WPA+TKIP? Now the PSK?
- WPA2+AES? Now the PSK?
- Dual mode (WPA/WPA2)?
What's the firmware version on your phone? I experienced connection issues with my Linksys WRT54GX router when I ran on firmware 11.x.
(...and of course, if you now all this, don't post your keys here... 😉 )
nj..how do i check the latest firmware version...sorry i am bit unsure abt this..
Download from here: http://www.nokia.com/A4176089
Nokia Software Updfate. Then check the phone firmware.

Hiya..
my wlan router has WEP security enabled..using the same i have configured and connected my laptop..pls let me know if i hav to chek anything..n also i am not able to find the firmware version ..pls help..
hi..i checked my mobile and it says it has the latest version 12.0.0.013... so what should i do next...
Well, should be pretty straight forward then.
First make sure you don't have MAC filtering enabled on you router. If you do you must add the N95 MAC address to it (which can be found by "dialing" *#62209526#).
Secondly your AP on N95 should be configured as:
- "Infrastructure"
- Security mode: WEP
- Verify the correct security settings under "WLAN sec. settings" (..or something.. Got SE language on mine..)
For the options here you have to know:
- Which is the active key (1-4)?
- If it's shared or open
- Whether it's 64 or 128 bits encryption?
- ...and of course the network key. Try adding it using the "HEX" key (for 128 bit it should be 26 character from A-H and 0-9).
