Since V12 Upgrade I've not been able to send email.
I've had a look about the settings and they appear ok to me - Is there a log file or the like anywhere that would give me more information.
The error only states " cannot send - check your settings"
Failing that any ideas on what I've missed ( worked fine pre upgrade)
A firmware upgrade will wipe your settings. Have you checked that your OUTGOING mail server is the same one as the operator you use to connect to the Internet?
That is, say you have a mail account with plonkyISP (). You use Orange as a mobile service provider.
Your incoming mail server is pop3.plonkyISP.com, but your outgoing one will be smtp.orange.net. If you connect via your home Wi-Fi network with Pipex, the outgoing mail server will be mail.pipex.co.uk
Please note that the server names are merely examples. I don't memorize the names of Internet mail servers.
http://www.filesaveas.com/networks.html gives details of the actual names.

Its not the server names - the mail server is my own, on my own hardware and own domain.
I knew the firmware wipes the settings , it looks like when i was redoing them I've missed something
Out going email settings are for each email account found under
options - email settings - connection settings - outgoing email are as follows
EMail address-
User Name - - full email required by my server
Password -Yup
Outgoing server - mail.mydomain.com
Access point - Always ask ( always was this - Mainly use home access point )
security ports - OFF ( Not required by my server )
Port - Default
Nothing that I can see there looks wrong - I've a few emails set up - different mail servers but all respond with the same error
Any settings anywhere else thats related to outgoing mail ?
Have you tried to access the Web, to see if this is a general access problem, or limited only to e-mail?
Web is fine - using any access method.
So is incoming emails - again no problems there.
Hi
Difficult for me to say for certain, as it's your own server, but I still suspect it's because you're trying access it from outside the domain.
Apologies if this is old ground for you. The information may be useful for other readers.
As a test, try changing the outgoing server to the one used by your access method. If it works, you can narrow the problem down.
