I am a person who uses the communicator alot for its facilities such as emails, internet, faxes etc...
I was very impressed with the P800 and its capabilities, but I was informed that it does not have FAX capability like the Nokia 9XXX series is this true and can this be overcomed by downloading a fax software.
This is the only thing stopping me for getting one

documentatino says it has no fax capability. sounds like the modem does not implement it. all is not lost if you just need to send. look at www.tpc.int for a web/email/fax gateway. there may be others around.

This is so true...even i'm holding back on buying the P800 because of the FAX thing. Hope there could be a 3rd party software availabe for this.
I used to use a nokia 6210 & palm for this before the 9210 came out. but that was not practical.
Anyways lets see whats there in the future of the P800.

How can you send Fax when you cannot edit Word Documents?

oh, on the modem front, you may be able to check it's capabilities. if the phone is set to act as an i/r modem, then a terminal application on the palm (i have an psion 5 with i/r) should let you send hayes codes (AT commands) that will reveal the modem spec. this works on a nokia 7110.
i dont have a P800 yet, but i'll try this if no one beats me to it.

Do you have any idea which modem-strings or AT-commands to use on the p800?
