How do you tighten slider?
This is something I would like to know!
I've just tightened mine up, It now feels really solid and well built, though it's almost too stiff, you need to push it from the top or bottom, friction between your thumb and the face buttons isn't enough. I think I might try wd40.
Anyway, here's the procedure:
1. Disassemble the N80 as shown here, until you have separated the slide assembly and the black part of the phone. ://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7380551401514628912&hl=en-GB
2. Unscrew the black rails from the silver piece of metal. You will need a very small torx bit for this (don't know exact size, but it's probably the size down from the one you've needed up to this point)
3. Cut out some squares big enough to fold over the rails from one of those plastic sleeves that go in ringbinders. Fold it over the rail so that the L shape of the rail is in the plastic fold.
4. Put the rails back onto the big piece of metal, poking the screws through the plastic, then through the rail, then through the plastic again, then into the metal, so one part of the plastic is sandwiched. Make sure the plastic is tight around the rail. I recommend having the silver plastic part which the rails hold onto in place while you screw the second rail on, it can be hard to slide it on afterwards.
5. Reassemble the phone.
6. Turn it on, pray it works again.
7. You now have an N80 with practically no wobble and a nice firm slide.
8. Experiment with different types of plastic, I tried the window from a bank letter, but I found it ripped after a few slides. I've had this sleeve plastic on for a couple of days now, time will tell how it holds out.
