Upgrading tp latest firmware question

12 replies · 4,795 views · Started 26 August 2007

I have 02 as my provider.

With 02 the latest firmware is v11.

If I upgrade to the new v12 firmware, will I lose any funcion associated with 02?

I am totally new to this, so apologies if it is a silly question. :con?

I have downloaded the nss proggy and plan to change back the correct product code after upgrading.

You will loose all O2 boltons and branding. After upgrade just re-input O2 settings and you will have the same o2 access as before. (do not use backup and restore just sync your contacts with Pc Suite).
There is no technical benefit to changing back your product code. I don't believe it affects your warranty in any way.
For their part T-mobile customer services have advised customers who have their Ameo product to ugrade to a manufacturers generic firmware as they (T-mobile) do not intend to release a branded version.
I think that tells you everything!

What exactly do you mean by re-input 02 settings?
What settings are you referring to?

The access point and data settings for internet email etc.

I have now upgraded the firmware on my phone and all looks well so far.

Have also restored my files and settings and again, all seems ok so far.

I will test it thoroughly tonight at work when I have my break and see how it performs.

Thanks to all that answered any questions I had. :icon14:

I am very happy to say that all seems to be working as it should, although I have noticed that the phone is a little (noticeably) slower reacting to key presses.

Thanks for letting us know how you got on.

One thing you'll find now works; if you press and hold the # key it switches between Silent and General profiles.
