The ultimate test of the Nokia E90

In AAS video podcast 19, I report back on a week with the Nokia E90 as my only computer. From email to Web to word processing to camera and leisure functions, the E90 had to do everything. Oh, and while adding this podcast, I noticed that the filename had been set wrong on video podcast 18 - did noone actually watch this, covering the gamut of Download! software for the Nokia Eseries?

Read on in the full article.

Steve, I think you have summed up the E90 well after all the negative comments flying around. Your Video review is much closer to the experience of the E90 that I feel. The large screen shouldn't be under estimated and in conjunction with the Web Browser, QuickOffice 4.5 and Profimail it is a really powerfull device.

With the addition of a good Task manager, Tracker, Papyrus and Projekt the E90 is powerful business tool (weapon?). The hardware is just fantastic. Next year when we go on our family holiday to Wales I will go without my UMPC or laptop and only take my E90 (and my wife's N95 and the Nokia SU8W keyboard).

Thanks for the podcast Steve. Looking forward to trying out the E90 as soon as this pause in availability passes. As you say it's not perfect but as others have specified here the software is already available and will no doubt develop to fill the gaps that have been identified in the bundled apps.

I've been trying to find out what getting an E90 would cost (in Holland, where I live), and was informed that Nokia have been having some production problems with the E90 (something to do with audio problems) and have actually had to recall some of them; anyone heard anything about this? This means that the E90 is currently virtually unobtainable in Holland...

Yes buster, that is correct. Nokia temporarily stopped sending out E90 units to fix a hardware issue with the speakers. More are expected to be available at the end of the month *fingers crossed*

Can't remember whether it was via iTunes/iPod or on the E90 via Podcast though 😉

Julie

I asked Nokia if there would be an AGPS update for the E90, and this is the answer I got (translated from Norwegian):

Thank you for contacting Nokia Care customer service.

Nokia E90 will not come with AGPS.
