I have a prob with my N73 ME and it came up by itself. the prob is that the whenever a New
Message is recieved, no icon is shown on the main screen, neither the tone is played nor
vibration is made for the alert, just a star is displayed on the inbox folder showing that
a new message is recieved and i have to c that again and again if there's any new message or
not. It was working very fine previously and i have used it for like just 2 months now.
the thing which bothers me is that howcome it happened by itself coz i didnt install
anything or shared anything which wud coz some file to get corrupted or something like that.
Can anybody plz help me out and tell me what to do coz its really irritating when u get a
msg and no alert is made.

have u tried using another profile? or making a new one and use it? try that maybe it will work, if not then the last option will be reseting it or flashing it again...
You should try removing the battery for a while (5 or so minutes) and powering it on again. If it still shows the problem, try formating the phone. If it's still there, update the firmware. Latest generic firmware is usually the best choice (via changing the product code of the device)...

I have the same problem, i've done a manual reset, with * 3 and green keys on startup and it didnt fix it, so not sure what i can do, except get a new one.
My wifes N73 has just done the same. Dont get any message alert tone or notification of a new txt. Its running 4.0726 firmware, I've changed profiles. checked the message alert tone but nothing.
Did anyone find an answer ? :frown:
Just for extra info I took the battery out and wiped the sim card, put both back in and alert worked again.
Plus I then upgraded to 4.0747 software too just as an afterthough
