E61 always prompts for wifi key

I have just set up wifi on my e61. I have entered the access point details including the wep key.

When I connect to the internet, the access point is not listed but a "scan for wlan" option is listed. When I do this it prompts for the WEP key. As I had the key in the copy buffer I could paste it and connect successfully.

How do I convince it to use the access point I defined along with the associated key?

Define an access point for it in which you can enter the key. You only need to this once and after that select the access point instead of scanning for WLAN.

If your WEP key is in plain text then you need to use the HEX equivelent on the phone. It's annoying but once entered you don't need to do it everytime. it's an age old bug/design feature/whatever. Have a hunt around on the Internet for a ASCII-HEX convertor to learn the key you are to enter on the E61.

I have already set up an access point and I have entered my key as 26 hex digits. I have also selected 128 bit WEP.

So what am I missing?
