Somewhere, hidden away on my N80, there is a setting which makes wallpapers fit on the screen, it shrinks them so that they shrink and fit below the clock...but I cannot find it in the menu.
Anyone remember where it is ??

There is not such setting. The image only fits all screen if its part of theme.
Thanks for the reply, but it's not a setting to make the image fit the whole screen, just the bit in the middle, below the clock and above the soft menu strip (if that makes sense).
So it shrinks the image to fit in the middle section.
you mean just use the customized wallpaper ?
Tools -> Themes
highlight the themes that you use, option -> edit
click wallpaper -> choose user defined
No, I know how to do that...
I currently have a wallpaper on my screen which is larger than the screen. The phone has shrunk it to fit between the upper and lower sections of the screen, and it's in proportion. Before I changed the setting (which I am trying to find), the wallpaper was out of proportion because it was too big...
Now I'm confused....!!
The wallpaper area is smaller than the full screen and the wallpaper feature only supports that area, not full screen.
If you want to have a full screen background picture, then you have to use that picture in a theme background (not wallpaper).
You can make new themes on the phone with the app Theme DIY. You can also try online services such as http://www.ownskin.com
And there's also Nokia's theme maker software for Windows: Carbide.ui S60 Theme Edition. You can find it on http://forum.nokia.com/
Thanks... although this isn't what I am asking.....
When using an image as a wallpaper (not a theme, and not trying to fill the whole screen, just the bit below the clock area and above the soft menu area), if you use an image larger than the available space the image is out of proportion ( a bit like using a 1680 x 1050 wallpaper on a 1280 x 1024 screen on the pc) with the top / bottom and / or sides cut off.
On my N80, this is how any large (or larger than the wallpaper size) picture appeared, however, I remember that there was an option which shrunk the image to keep it in proportion... this is the option / setting that I now cannot find.
hmm..on my N80, if I use a larger image...it will automatically shrinked to be in the middle...not out of proportion.
There's also an edit feature in the Image Gallery...is this what are you looking for ? You choose a picture, click options -> edit.
When the picture's loaded, press the middle button on the d-pad and there's a menu for crop, resize, etc.
There's also shrink...but, I have no idea what's that for. Never used it before.
