Changed product code but update fails

10 replies · 5,546 views · Started 29 August 2007

I have an O2 unlocked N95
I have a three uk sim in it.
I changed the product code using NSS and used the 0536062 EURO1 - Plum code....NSS reported change okay...
I then used the Nokia PC Suite to update the phone.

The Updater starts, finds the phone, and at the end of it all it tells me that there are no software updates.

BUT the current version on the phone is 10.0.018

So i changed the Code to the 0534841 EURO1 - Sand and tried again,,,,still no update available.
Please can someone tell me what im missing?

Yes i already have the updater to get the firmware BUT it does one of two things

1/tells me there is a firmware update then crashes with error message previously stated

OR

2/tells me ther i NO update

Very frustrating

Just had one more go before bed and this time it said new software available for the phone/ preparing update.
After a few minutes i got error telling me
"downloading software package failed. The service may be down or your internet connection may not be working properly.
Try again later..

i can confirm
internet connection fine and ALL firewalls turned off

Be wary of Vista BTW... you need to run in XPSP2 Compatibility mode with the pretty stuff turned off and preferably as administrator. ..
IF that doesn't help you may need to find another PC to run it on.:frown:

I've updated a few phones under Vista using the software updater 'as is' and with no problems.

PC Suite does consistently crash on me with the same error message if I try to restore a backup file from Content Copier, though.

Make sure you aren't using a USB hub to connect the phone. Try a different USB port on your PC.

Hi
Well i did EXACTLY the same thing about eight bloody times with it failing for one reason or another.
Got to 3am and i thought sod this one more go and i'm off to bed..
well it then worked!

so good thing, now running uncrippled version 12 using Euro1 code

BUT
one question i thought this removed the supplier branding too.
Why does my phone still show the 3 symbol?

BTW
Using xp service pack 2 all latest updates applied.
can't afford Vista on my FOUR pc's 😊

I take it the 3 symbol is at the top of the main screen.

Its called the Operator Logo and I think it sits in a different area of the phone. It's hidden to Nokia File Explorer but you can edit/remove it with other Explorer programs.
