Your Thoughts On Nokia Maps Beta

The new version of Nokia Maps for N95 is now available at the Nokia Maps site (I'm not allowed to post url because I'm new to this site).

I just downloaded and installed it and I think it stated version 1.02 in the installer. In About, it shows v1.2 wk34 b03. I haven't had a chance to use it yet to see how it works though.

May Loader 1.2 is also available from the above site which I think may be new(?).

I still have the original Maps version that came with the v.12 firmware. Why does this say 'v3.0 wk23 b01 OpenGL OpenBit MN'. And not v1.0, v1.1 or v1.2 ?
is it worth upgrading?

It shows "nokia_maps_1_0_upgrade_ROM.sis" filename, but rest assured, it is 1.2 revision.
And silly me tried the navigation option, and it said "triggering free access, do you wish to continue" (or some such words) and of course I selected "yes" and now I have 3 days to try the navigation for it (doh!... should have done it when I needed it).

Definitely worth the upgrade if you don't really need the tracking option, the 3d mode shows clouds for example, looks sexy. I have been using the other 1.1 version available on the Smart2go website for some time, so can't remember what other nice things this newer version has (1.1 and 1.2 look very similar it seems, at first glance. A bit nicer looking than the orig that comes with the v10/11/12 phone firmware).

What strange is for me, I can see on www.smart2go.com that Nokia Maps for N95 has appeared again... and it seems to be the same v.1.1 wk23 b04 which was withdrawn some time ago. :con?
Does it mean that they realesed an upgrade not to the newest version which is available on www.nokia.com?

... moreover mobilesearch.nokia.com is no more available

when you download it it says v.1 but when installing to phone it says v1.2 i think that this is definately the finished product.

continues to be a huge disappointment for me .. New Zealand maps are complete crap. 😡
I thought by waiting a few months .. until the N95 was released here would cure that but no.:frown:
I'm sticking with mobile Gmaps for now.😉
