Battery Indicator Missing

For some reason my phone just switched itself off, when it rebooted there were no blocks showing in the battery indicator.

Any ideas??

Even when it's put on charge the blocks don't appear as they usually would..

Either the battery is faulty (does it retain a charge or is it always nearly flat?)

Otherwise, perform a Hard Reset on the phone and see if it all returns to normal.

Tried a hard reset and nothing happened so tried it again and the second time it went back to normal.
