Route 66 Sync on N95

Hello chaps,

Ive borrowed my mates Route 66 Sync disc (he has 6110 Navigator) and want to install it on my N95. Ive tried connecting the phone to pc but I cant get it to install.

Is it possible, as I understand both phones use the same gps chip and software?

Thanks in advance.

Damn, his phone locks on to sats in seconds and im jealous 😊

Was hoping it would work on mine. Oh well.

Cheers 😉

there may be some workaround for this since, as you say, the gps chipset is identical and they're both running the same OS. What error message if any are you getting?

I have the contents of the disc, ie maps, voices etc. I select what I want to install but no option to transfer to my phone. :con?

Is there a .sis file to install the actual program to the phone, or does the disc just contain extras like maps and voices, etc?

Nope, no sis file at all :frown:

I did a google and read that the program comes with the firmware for the 6110. All I have, so it seems, is the maps, voices etc. A bit of a bugger cos the satnav works better on the 6110 than what it does on my N95.

Thanks for the feedback tho 😉

No it wont work. Route66 is hard coded into the phone (the 6110), you cannot even remove it. Thus Im guessing the program isnt actually on the DVD.

Not that it would work anyway, as maps are tied to IEMI, and you wouldnt be able to copy his. While maps are on the DVD, they have to be unlocked.

The Executable code is in the ROM of the 6110 (which is the main application). The DVD only contains the maps and support applications.

So NO.. you cannot use this to install the N95.

Damn thats a shame, would of been nice to have that new version as mine takes forever to get a GPS signal
