N95 Front facia seems loose !!!!

10 replies · 3,588 views · Started 31 August 2007

Hi, can anybody tell me if this is normal !! the front facia seems to be slightly loose when you open the slider, and wobble from side to side !! Hard to explain but just wobbles a little, ive seen others and they seem tighter, is it just my Nokia N95 from orange, bought it secondhand with no warranty so i was wondering is there anyway the NSC Can tighten this facia up ? And also does anybody no of a black facia cover for this n95 and would it be something you could change your self?

Hope to hear soon from Brian

This is the infamous 'loose slider' problem and is extremely widespread among N95s, as far as I know. You can fix it yourself by putting some tape or such inside the device; there are various guides around if you search for 'n95 slider fix' or such. I'm not sure if the service centres are able to do anything.. has anyone tried?

Dont think a service centre would touch a second hand one unless its a paid for job but then again the fix mentioned in my earlier post takes 10 mins and worked like a charm for me, 4 months ago i did it and still as tight now 😊

Hi and many thanks to you all that have replyed, i shall try and follow the link to make my slider tighter and i love this phone, dont want to sell just because of a loose slider, if all fails i can live with it, but am sure i be able to follow the link ok to fix this..

Many thanks again from brian

oh my god

now people are sticking bits of tape in there 500+ phones because nokia didnt make them properly

samsung dont seem to have a prob with sliders

ok they dont match features etc but surely nokia could have built a decent slider and put a decent battery in it.

add this slider problem with poor battery and a slow gps start up that people are having and it looks like the n95 isnt such a hot product after all

seriously though having to dismantle your 500+ phone to fix it with tape just aint on really is it??

makes me sad i wanted to love this phone so much

every day it leaves me more dissapointed

Your in a minority there then!

Id rather tape every nokia i own from now that buy a samsung phone.

I think its the first double slider there is, so while nokias other slider phones are fine, this one isnt. True, they should have tested it more first, but then thats what happens with new phones like that. The N95 is more or less groundbreaking, so Im afraid you have to expect a few problems with it.

Which is why I went with a 6110 navigator :P

But you will see plenty of people happy with N95s in this forum.

lol mate no offence but that is very short sighted of you and i dont think you understand what i was saying.

i have never owned a samsung and i agree with you id much rather own a nokia then a samsung due to symbian and user interface etc

but i dispise the way nokia release a phone that has a main feature ie 2way slider and it is built in such a way that we the consumer have to go out take are phones apart and fix them via sticky tape in our bedrooms because a massive phone manufactuer has released a phone with a dodgy slide

why couldnt nokia have just bult it properley like samsung build there slides properley if you get what i mean

ok i know its a 2way one but hey the nokia n80s slide was renowned for coming loose etc

lol id never buy a samsung over a nokia symbian but i was saying if samsung can get the slide right why cant nokia?? i mean slide have been out for how many years now??

anyways guys peace out and dont hate me for trying to be honest and sharig my opinions iam sure other readers appreciate the honesty when they are researching phones to buy and faults with phones before they buy them etc i own the n95 and dont like it only thing i think nokia got right is all its features but even they need tweaking to get it right ie better battery better gps reciever in phone better speakers that dont blow as easy less dodgy slider non squeaking buttons etc etc which they probably will in the next upgraded n95 or 96 or n97 or whatever they choose to call it. but for me the n95 wasnt the phone i thought it was going to be

its a slider its designed to move, i cannot beleave people are making such a huge deal out of what in reality is a tiny movement. 🙄
