Hi

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me where i can download more maps? It doesn't seem very clear in the manual and I'm going to Paris in a couple of weeks so a map of Paris would be great. Also, how much do they cost or are you able to get them for free?

Also, in the UK I was told that in able to use the voice part of the system I would have to pay an extra fee. Anybody able to tell me how much this is and if it's a one off payment or does it cost everytime I use it? Is there any way round it? i.e. any way of getting the voiceover part of the system without paying?

Any help would be much appreciated

I believe that you have to pay for special city guides but the actual maps are all free but you can't (..from what I know..) download only city maps.

Fastest/easiest way is to connect phone to PC in "File transfer mode" and use the PC application "Nokia Map Loader" to download a country map (...or part of a contry..). It's pretty selfexplaining once you've started it.

Regarding "Voice part..": You mean the route guidance (with can be used with or without voice); It's a payable service and you can buy access for either 1w, 1m, 1y or 3y. Select Options\Extra Services\Navigation from within N.Maps to se the price and optional buy it. It activates the route guidance but you will have to download the voice file separately (..unless you have a flat rate data charge it's recommended that you download it using Nokia Map Loader). The voice file are of no use if you don't buy and activate "route guidance".

Thans for the reply.

Does that mean that I don't have to pay every time I use the route guidance because it's just the one off payment? Or does it charge me every time because it's calculating my position?

Also, if i decide not to buy the route guidance and the voice can i still use the maps as a route planner? i.e. just plan my route before I set off, and not have it telling me where to take the turnings

Hope I'm explaining this ok and thanks for all your help

If you choose to pay for the navigation option, then it won't charge you per usage, you pay for a certain period's subscription - so you can buy 1 week or 1 month's usage, and use it as much as you want within that period.

Without it, it'll still calculate directions to places fine. You should use Nokia MapLoader to download the relevant France maps to a memory card so that it's not using data in France (Options > Settings > Network > Use Network > Never).
