N73 Keeps losing time and date when switched off

Does anyone know what could be wrong. Everytime the phone is switched off, the phone prompts again at startup for the date and time and displays it as 01/01/06 and 9.00am.

Anyone know how I could fix this?

Thanks in advance

Are you using the original Nokia battery?

I bought a cheap 'original' from ebay for my N80, and I get exactly the same problem as you.......if I use the battery which was supplied with the phone, no problem at all.

does not sound like a battery problem. i just took out my n73 battery, put it back after about a minute, and the date/time was still there. something inside must be keeping the time/date.

if its a software problem, going back to factory default/upgrading firmware might help

if its hardware issue(which i think it is), contacting nokia might be best option if under warranty.

maybe its in the settings of the unit...i had this problem once but unknowingly I solved it when I restored my N73 back to its original factory settings.... and I told my brother about it, he said there is another battery in the unit and that might have gone weak....
