Last night I was using Web with packet data, then locked the phone and left it overnight. I was surprised to find that the battery was completely flat in the morning, as it showed no loss of battery last night. Since I did not close Web, this leads me to believe that Web holds the packet data connection open indefinitely? I don't believe I have anything that's checking the Internet regularly and my packet data connection is set to 'When needed'. I assumed that it would time out after not being used.
Also, as I'm going on holiday recently - is there any way to prevent the phone using any packet data at all, short of deleting the access point?

Configure email, web and any other app that uses GPRS Packet Data to "Always Ask" which AP to use to connect, then it cannot make a connection without prompting you first. Glas to see you also have PD set to When Needed and not to Always On

Dez is correct!
The connection will remain as long as web is running!
If you want to check this hold down the red cancel button while web is running and you will be asked if you also want to cancel the connection.

Ah, thanks! Better make sure I do that whenever I'm done with it then.. that'll be why it ran down.
