using iTunes unDRMed mp3 files

I'm having a strange problem with mp3 files I've downloaded from iTunes plus (mp3 file with no DRM). I can load them, but my w950i does not recognize them/does not play them.

Has anyone else had any experience with this?

Aren't the iTunes Plus files using AAC format (not MP3)?

Anyway, Apple has some non-standard changes done to the AAC files (presumably they add the buyer's info there for tracking purposes), and you have to remove the non-standard part/block.

I recall seeing an Internet site with an application do so, but don't remember where and what the name is/was.

Alternatively, Sony Ericsson would have to change the w950i to ignore such non-standard parts in AAC files.

Or, you can burn a CD using iTunes and then rip them back to MP3 files for real.

(Note, though, that the AAC format is already a compressed, lossy format where music quality has been reduced - or compromised, as some might say -, and re-ripping that to MP3, another lossy format, worsens the music quality further).
