Is there a way to get google earth on the phone?
Many people confuse google maps with google earth.
Id love to be able to get google earth on my phone, especially with the inbuilt GPS.
Im assuming you cannot download google earth, and that it costs you in data charges by downloading the images.
Any info greatly appriciated.
Yes you can i.ve got it on my n95 and works great in landscape mode . Just point your phone browser to. google.com/gmm[/url] and download it hope this helps.

That's Google Maps, which isn't what the user above is looking for I'm afraid. I don't think you can get the full Google Earth on S60, or at least I've not heard anything about it.
it depends on what features from Google Earth you want to use I guess. If you just want to see the satellite images - google maps is good enough.
Basically, I just want google earth pictures, with the ability to search (like you can on the PC version). Course, would be great if I could use the interal GPS, but thats not a must have.
So I end up getting pictures like this:

Once installed, goto menu then select 'Satalite' (option 4) to get birds eye view
Cool, any idea on data usage? Its going to bum me on that, going to have to think about getting a data package, crappy vodafone.
Google Earth is a PC application for Windows, Mac and Linux. It's extremely unlikely Google will ever port it to S60 (but don't rule anything out with Google).
On the PC, it downloads image data as it needs it, much as Google Maps does.
In my view, Google will continue to develop Google Maps for mobiles, adding support for GPS, user-defined data and localized information.
Edit: And, as others have pointed out, Google Maps already offers that "Look! My house!" experience 😊

Whats the difference between google earth and google maps?
I thought google maps was just roads etc, and not images (actual sat images).
Dont spose anyone knows if they are planning to have it working with the GPS unit? 😊
And I cant do the 'Look its my house!' thing, as my house has just been built and presuambly wont be on there for ages 🙄
You can try MGMaps.
It stands that Google Maps support have been removed, but thats only if you download the maps as you go over 3G or GPRS.
You can still download the maps onto the memory card through the PC.
And you also have TrekBuddy.

I was out walking yesterday using this app which uses the google maps and the internal gps, worked fairly well.
