4GB Micro SD

Nokia say that the N95 only supports up to a 2GB card.

Does this mean that if I buy a 4GB card then it will either not work completely, or give issues?

Yea I heard that with the latest firmware, the N95 will support 4GB cards..

Its just what I heard😉

My firmware version is 11.0.0.026
Im with O2 and apparently there isnt a further update for me yet.

Will I be able to take a 4Gb card or will I need to wait until there is an update for O2 branded phones?

Also will the classic N95s be able to take the new 8Gb cards or are they just for the new black N95s ?

And finally, will having a larger memory card improve performance? Are these cards used to supplement the phones RAM deficiency or is it simply storage space?

I've read and heard about 3rd party .. the 8GB is internal and there is NO expansion possible on the "new" version .. you are better off with a hot swappable card.😊

Ok, no 8GB card for me then 😞

So does having a larger card improve performance, a la virtual RAM, or is it just storage space?

btw the "new" N95 has no 8Gb memory card, but internal memory. ie: the memory chip is ssoldered on somewhere... again only for storage. However I think this "new" N95 or "N95 8Gb" does not have a memory card slot, so you cant use memory cards on it, no expansion of storage.

There is currently that I know of, no 8Gb micro SD cards out yet. So until they come out it's anybodys guess wether the old N95 will work with them. Although I would be suprised if it didnt.

ut.

My T-Mobile phone on V11.0.0.026 has a 4GB SanDisk microSDHC card and works fine, so there should be no problem.

I can't say if 8GB microSDHC cards will work - they probably will - but the 8GB model has no expansion at all - you're trading in the microSD slot for the built-in flash.

The RAM is quite separate from the storage capacity, which can be added to with microSD cards. Unfortunately there's no way to increase the RAM for running programs, unless someone finds some way of resoldering the chips!

No and No.

Memory Cards are simply storage space for Maps, Music, Pics, Vids and apps data.
