Iv nocitced any close picture i take seems to be really clear, but as soon as anything is far away, like taking a photo of a car or sumthing outside its really blury! any idear, or anyone else have the same problem
N95 Camera Focus

Like so
Have you checked the camera settings?
It might be set to macro meaning it focuses for close up. Usual symbol for a macro setting is a flower. Should show somewhere on camera.
...are you allowing the camera to auto focus by half pressing shutter button?
Thats a big ass radio 😮
Hey, why you taking photos of my car?? 😉
Its all set to auto, and yes i start there as still as i can and hold the shutted button for it to focus and it still comes out like that. its really anoying coz thats one of the main resons i wanted this phone was the camera.
and yes its a massive head unit. selling it for a friend
Have you tried palying around with different camera settings?
Any difference in the results?
Because i've have mine reparied at the moment, cuz it woudent get a green box ANYWHERE more than 1/2-1 meter away !! 😡
And had excact the same experience as you - Wery sharp pics close up - but the same bluriness as on your attacthed pics, excatly 😮
But since the box dident get red, i figured it not was the n95' fault, that it was a camera part autofokus hardware problem - right :icon14:
And so did the sales store when i went there and told them + they called nokia tech folks, and they agreed it was at hardware problem, and i should have it repaired!
So now im watiiiiing and and very curiues if its better now or not
But anyways the last upgrade from V.11 to V.12 firmware did quite an improvement in picture quality, soo i dont now how long to wait four a 5MP camera getting NEARLY as close in quality as sony k800i with 'only' 3,2MP
they are so fine thats it's just ready to hit the print button (very nice photos)
Mayby this could be a bit of help to you 😊
Greetings all :icon14:
yeh it does help, thanks for your post, could you tell me if you had the problem befor you did the firmware upgrade... and i will wait and see the result of your before i take any action on mine... i will test it tomorrow in the day and see if my box goes green, i didnt even know it was ment to. i also noticed it takes awhile to focus when taking pictures like that, maybe its trying to focus at all levels then cant and takes the photo anyways and thats why it comes out blury
did you get your n95 back and has the camera been fixed?
Not yet pal :icon13:
Thats sucks - i've was told 2-3 weeks - i'ts been 1 1/2 now soo😮
Damm it frustrating:frown:
Let u now as soon it gets here 😎
Cheers
I had the same problem, sent it for repair was improved but still not good for anything in the distance e.g. streets or buildings, so i have had to send it back again, kinda pissed. Make sure you fully test when you get it back.
Well im taking it to my usual guys in london who said they will replace the cam for 35, aint bad if u ask me
I had the same problem but it was due to residue on the lends cover. The camera would not focus onto the bit of dirt on the cover. Taking close up was fine, not sure why but it fixed my issue.
check that your lens cover is clean !

What tools did you use to remove the residue?
slightly damp cotton bud ...
Seems like i have a similar problem. Since i have updated my fw ( V11 to v20 ) i can't get a green box or a red box. The box stays white .... no matter what. Now i am doubting if it's because of the new firmware or a hardware failure like the being described in this thread.
I tried to take some pics indoors with artificial light and they don't seem blurry at all. I can't take any outdoor natural lighted pics as it's evening in my local place. Close-up pics are just fine but even then i don't get a green or red focusing box.
Can anyone test if their N95 with fw20 does get a green ( or red box for the worse matter of not being able to focus ) box ?

mines working fine on v20, try re-instaling the firmware
Same here - V20 and pictures and focusing all fine.
thanks for u replies
well guess i need to re-flash the fw, i hate all the hassle that comes with flashing it. Especially manually restore the apps and games. It takes up so much time 😞
Switch Sharpness to "HARD" or Use Landscape mode; I find Using Landscape mode better.
It is probably little consolation but mine works fine so at least you know it isn't just a poor device. Yours is most likely faulty so i'd go for a service center
strange thing is that it seems it does not make blurry pictures. I made some outdoor pictures ( in a cloudy situation ) and will take a look it on my pc as soon as i am home. Maybe it is a software related problem. I probably should try to reflash first.
update : reflashed my N95 and still no green of red focus box, only white .... the pictures taken don't seem to be blurry but i can't judge them right if i don't have any comparison.
Can anyone tell me if this is the normal N95 quality ? to me it seems compared to my older taken pictures with firmware V11 it is, but i would like to double check before losing my phone for a time to a Nokia Service Point if they can't fix it directly.

those pics luk fine to me
thanks for the reply, i think i'll wait before taking it to a Nokia service point though i still have to fix the slider (again!) so i can fix 2 things at once. I love this phone so much that i am in a state of accepting these faults but sometimes Nokia just makes me mad 😡
