Warez and AAS

Well well well .. sorry to disappoint anyone who came in here looking for a URL to a warez site . Its against AAS rules to ask about warez or post link to warez sites its the rules of this forum and we have to respect them..
However the point that I want to raise .. is that I see moderators several times removing links to other forums just because those forums dont mind warez!!! Come on .. dont you think that this is pushing it?

I mean I know it up to the moderators here to control the substance of their forum but why keep that sites away? No one can sue you if you have a link to another FORUM which accepts warez .. and I stress on the word FORUM

This reminds me of a little story . Here in Kuwait Porno sites are blocked by the local net providers ..who also block proxies . However in maintaining this strict policy they blocked the language tools option in Google because it uses a proxy and proxies are not allowed !!! so now I cant use this google feature which I depended on for visiting german, italian or french sites!

The morals of this small story is that when sometimes you want to block something so bad you end up blocking other useful things .. i.e other forums ..

I just hope that our moderators here accept such comments and I would remain welcomes in this site

Not a reply to the post .. but just wanted to touch on some things ..

I don't think it's a matter of being sued .. I think it would be against the hosting policy and will therefore be shut down .. also they would lose the respect and support of software companies and will not get any attention or advertisement revenues.

As for the proxy thingi, here in Bahrain they block access to sites which have suspicious domain names, anything domain that includes the word sex, etc. and some sites that offer no sexual content are sometimes blocked because the system finds a forbiden word in the domain name.

hehe was going to make the same point as simply258, it may be against hosting policy, or it may just be respectability and a clean image 😊

also some forums don't allow links to other sites of similar interests to prevent losing the community due to competition. I'm not saying this is the situation here as it is up to the people who run/finance the forums on how they want to run things.

Well guys .. I am not saying lets have links to warez site but if other forums have a warez-tolerant policy .. its up to them . Why block their forums???

Yeah thats why I said its not a reply to the post .. just commenting on some things in the post .. i wouldnt know the reasoning behind not allowing links to other forums ..

Because we dicided that way.
Take out the warez links from your site then we can have your link. 😃
simple.

Wel well .. first of all I DONT have a site to promote AAS is my forum of choice .. its very nice here and I like it I was just raising a philosophical question and was hoping for a detailed answer 😃 i mean what is the reasoning for taking such a step ... put us in the light 😊

So you have to remove every external link posted here, because when you follow one link to another, eventually you end up to the dark places of internet. That's the nature of this business, you know?

Remove direct links to illegal material? OK. Remove links to other sites which may or may not contain illegal material? Not OK.

Warez is banned for many reasons, some of which have been touched on in the above comments.

We can't say no warez, then allow links to sites that contain it.

We don't just ban warez for legal reasons, on the whole the admin/moderator team are against warez, and don't agree with it for certain reasons (like loss of sales to the companies that took the time to make the applications), hence the reason we don't provide links to such places.

We ask even if you don't agree with the rules, that you at least be kind enough to follow them.

I'm happy, that I'm living in Europe. This is totally no freedom

Obviously AAS cannot control other Forums, but we can see what other Forums policy is towards warez. Certain Forums (ey My-Symbian) also have a clear anti-warez policy so links to My-Sy would not get touched.

But links to sites that host warez, have forums swimming in the stuff (or requests to send me xxx is something we cannot have. If you want warez, support warez, or whatever you *know* where to look. Take it elsewhere, not here.

Bottom line is, as in many things, it is Rafe's site, and Rafe has said no links to warez forums. And moderators don;t have time to plough through a site to see if it is warez, or just has the appearance of looking dodgy. If we find anything suspicious, say bye bye to the link.

AAS (And My-Sy) are recognised by the software makers as being genuine homes were [i[they[/i] can come and participate, and know that their software is treated with respect. It took a heck of a long time to get to where we are now with companies, to the point that Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Symbian are showing signs of trusting us.

And of course, you're all enjoying it here as well! But the price is constant vigilance.

My view on this is kind of deeper than just "no warez end of story!",and I would like to let you all know why I dont support warez especially in AAS. Firstly warez is something illegal....and being warez tollerant as many say is like hosting something illegal. We are happy to link to any site that might be of interest to our users and never EVER have edited or deleted a link that did not contain warez. I think that people that have forums or websites with warez dont really care about the warez community or the symbian one. They just want visitors and like the fact that other people thank them for providing them. They dont care about the Symbian community and its developments. WE DO! This site is deticated to Symbian and not Symbian software. We discuss everything that has to do with it.

BIGBANG: The situation in your country is very wrong however it isnt like that with AAS. We dont block EVERY site that isnt AAS we just block sites with WAREZ.....and lets face it...the only reason someone is visiting sites that have warez is because of warez. For everything else theres MASTERCARD.

Crack appls are also banned in here. UNLESS you give us your Credit Card No then perhaps... perhaps..

Everything said above is of mature content and adult like attitude, keep it up.

I am in Riyadh Saudi Arabia, if the 2 other gentleman from Kuwait and Bahrain complain about censorship try my shoes on for size. Censorship here is so tight that even pbase.com is blocked. Compute that.
