Is there a way to remove the network "branding" from a sony Ericsson P990i.
Im from South Africa and the nework I use (Vodacom) has their own startup screen and who knows what else installed.

Is there a way of removing this

Thanks

There are ways to do this but i believe to unbrand the phone you also have to have it unlocked. I recently sent my phone away to have it unlocked and de-branded and also have the latest World 1 Firmware put on it.

I have to say that my phone works faster now and i like the changes.

Apparently you have to flash the phone to make it generic. I'm looking into this as mine is vodafone branded. This means the latest CDA firmware is R4... whereas if it's made generic, it can be updated with the latest firmware R6E28. Will post when I find out more.

well i used to be on orange branded software i can give you an address that shows how to de-brand it.... BUT you run it at your OWN RISK
i took the chance and i succeded only because im a lover of computers and mobiles esspesially my p990i ha!

ok here go's!

go on to google UK
put in 'debrand p990i'
choose the top one

WARNING: I dont think this may work for any other brand from eather orange, vodafone, t mobile or o2

DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!
