I've only had my N95 a few days and have found this forum immensely valuable. 😊
One point I'm not clear about is the difference between unlocking the phone and changing the product code. All that I've read here makes me think the terms are used interchangably.
Can anyone enlighten me?
Thanks

"Unlocking" = the control of the phone is unrestricted to a particular service provider eg Voda, Orange .. etc
IF you are able to unlock your handset you can put in any SIM from any provider (that has a compatible technology .. GSM, 3G etc)
--
Changing the product code = modifies the handsets product code so that the software (firmware) can be upgraded using a particular product code set.
Reasons for doing this might include wanting the latest Firmware version which may not yet be available for the current product code (Note: mobile operators/providers may sell handsets with their own product code)
Another reason for changing the code may be to install a different language set, eg Chinese etc.
Changing your product code DOES NOT unlock your phone.
UNLOCKING your phone DOES NOT change the product code.
Hope that clears the mud.😊
Thanks seki. Clear on this now.
and the ultimate question, which one?
if your happy with your provider still do the product code it releases so much more,
and even if you unlock still do the code make it fully free

EURO-1 if you are in Europe, (APAC-1 if you are not?).
EURO = Europe only
EMEA = Europe, Middle east, Africa
APAC = Asia, Pacific
