Hello,
I quite new to this forum. So a big HI to everyone.

I have been using N70 since a year and its locked on orange network. Last week I upgraded the lastest firmware to " V5.0705.3.0.1 ; 30-01-07 ; RM-84 " using Nokia Software Update program.
My understanding was that if I install the new firmware it should debrand the phone - may be I am wrong.

And since the new firmware install the all sorts of problem started.

I can't do lots of things -
1) can't still use any other network sim (like o2, voda) the phone is still locked on Orange.
2) the orange screen keeps appearing even after I restart n70 - doesn't get disappeared even I choose not to have orange screen
3) I can't change the ring tones, themes, etc - i can temporarily, but when I restart the phone it goes back to original settings.

Any help / suggestion would be much appreciated

Thanks in advance

1. Firmware does not remove the SIM lock
2. You only did a firmware update, not a debranding
3. I don't have a clue.

To debrand your phone you need to change the product code first.

You must change the product code using NSS (Nemesis Service Suite) and doing the update again. After update, change the product code back to original (the one found under battery).

That's interesting Ratza. Why change the product code back to the original afterwards? I didn't do it on mine and it appears to be fine now for 9 months.

so you can argue if the people you bought it from dont want to offer warranty after debranding. i think.
