New N95 owner, some questions

5 replies · 2,435 views · Started 13 September 2007

I'm a proud owner of this magnificent piece of technology. I do have some questions though.

1) How do I see the current firmware installed?

2) I have a Linksys WRT54G and my phone does not detect the wireless network. Any thoughts? I've tried with and without encryption.

3) Any advice for a brand new owner?

Thanks!

Hi

to find your firmware go to Applications and then Device Manager and you should see your Device Software Version.

as for your wireless connection can you see any other wireless netoworks? also if your router broadcasting a SID?

Thanks for the quick reply. My router was not broadcasting SSID. I switched it off and it seems to detect it. Haven't hooked it up yet though.

Why won't it detect hidden SSIDs?

Because the point of a hidden SID is that it's not supposed to be detected (although many klient WLAN apps does it anyway)....

It shouldn't be a problem using a hidden SID though. All you have to do is to define the IAP on your N95 first.

Yes, I understand. I thought that hidden SSIDs were supposed to be seen as hidden SSIDs so that one could at least choose it and enter the details after it has been found. I will try a little more.

Also, does the N95 work with AES encryption?
