Hey there guys,
just purchased navicore because from my opinion it is the best around!
BUT, everytime it tried to check up on the traffic the n95 crashes and restarts!?
I've done a hard reset, formatted my memory card!
WHY OH WHY!!!
Can anyone give me any help here or do I dare ask for support from Navicore! :con?
Hi,
I'm in the same situation as you. I can confirm it is indeed the traffic updates which cause this. The short-term fix is to switch them off and then at least you'll be able to use the program. Not ideal I know.
I've already emailed Navicore about this issue yesterday but as yet I've heard nothing. I'll keep you posted.

Oh I'm glad someone else is having the same problem and it's not some hardware fault!
If this is a common problem with the n95 then shouldn't it of been addressed before they allowed us guys to download it? Paying customers and all that - and although I can still use it, it's not going the full 100%!
Let's see what the guys have to say then eh!
I got a reply from Navicore this morning. Unfortuantely it just contained instructions on how to download and install Navicore??? I emailed them back again telling them that this was not my problem and updated them on the fact that it is the traffic updates which cause the problem and that I'm not the only person experiencing it. I await their response.
I have an update too! I just managed to call Navicore and spoke to a lady and she explained that she had recieved a few e-mails regarding this but they were unaware of what is causing the problem.
She did however mention that it could be related to the A-GPS as it uses the internet to connect. So after the phonecall I switched the GPS to the normal integrated option but still the phone reset when I switched on the traffic alerts so alas, my theory has gone out of the window!
Could it just be us two!?
I have Navicore, so I'll try and have a play with this in the next couple of hours and see what I come up with.
It's definately not just the two of us...

This is a chap who's got the same problem on his E90, which as we know uses the same GPS chipset. The A-GPS thing occured to me as well and I mentioned it in my email to them.
I guess time will tell. I'll keep playing with it and see if I can come up with anything new. There is another post on here somewhere with someone experiencing the problem if he tried to connect in certain ways, but others were ok.
From what I can narrow it down to, the problem is that there is a conflict between the GPS chip and the connecting to the 3g service.
I'm on T-Mobile and have the latest firmware.
I'm on T-Mobile also, however my phone is not network branded.
I can confirm what you said about switching off the A-GPS and Network Positioning under Tools making no difference, I still get the crash also.
ok, well to add my 2p.... just done a walk around with Traffic enabled and had no problems. Navigated to a destination, forced a traffic update, also waited for one to go through on timed basis, still no problems. Checked Traffic had updated - yep, 256 live events, 36k. Did this on 3G and GSM (on T-Mobile) without a hicough.
Sorry, can't replicate this problem.
This is really strange? So what's different between our phones then?
What is the version of Navicore 2007 you're running? Mine is 2.2.6.135 TA2006.07
Is your phone T-Mobile branded? i.e. running the T-Mobile firmware? Not sure what the latest T-Mobile firmware is, are they up to v12 yet?
Where did your internet access points come from? Did you get them from the T-Mobile website or from the settings wizzard on the phone? When I run the settings wizzard I get two sets of settings, one called T-Mobile Internet and one called t-zones. I always delete the t-zones one because I always thought it was identical but I'm gonna give it a try with that one now.

Running the same version of Navicore as you. But, my T-Mobile phone is un-branded and running v12 software, as it's an insurance replacement (great way to get an unbranded phone!!). I use the T-Mobile Internet AP.
My phone is unbranded too. Looks like we're running an identical setup. I'm really stumped on this one.
Using the t-zones access point made no difference either.
I've had an e-mail response from Navicore saying ;
Dear Sir
Thank you for contacting Navicore
It seems as if there is a conflict in Navicore using gprs-connection to update speed
cameras/traffic information. Navicore is researching this. What you could do is use
the external gps-receiver when you try and update the software, and see if that helps.
All information on this is much appreciated!
We have your email address and we will contact you when we have a solution for this
problem.
Best regards, Navicore customer service
At least we have got them acknowleging this problem but from looking at the other chaps setting on the n95, perhaps he has a different product code?
I am looking to see if I can edit my product code
stephanbee, what is your product code now? I have already changed mine to Euro2 one quite a long time ago but I have never experienced any problems with it. I used to have Route 66 running fine which again updated traffic subscriptions whilst using assisted GPS and I never had a problem with it. Needless to say Route 66 has been completely uninstalled since.

Do you know how to use the NSS software at all? It gives your product code etc so we can compare those details to ours?

Well, we can certainly give it a go anyway!
I hope it's as simple as that, but I doubt it. Best of luck.

Alas, it has made no difference! I reinstalled Navicore too just to check but nothing but the same problem!
chrsfrwll, could you press *#0000* and give us that detail if you would be so kind?
Thanks for helping us with this!
If its of any use my product code is 0536065
My software is V12.0.013

I think I'm begining to realize what is wrong here.
I am going to change the p/c to 0547686 and then find out if I can re-flash the n95 with this product code
*gulp*
I think I might've made some progress on this.
First I went into Tools -> Settings -> Connection -> Access Points and deleted all access points defined there.
Then I went to the T-Mobile website and downloaded the settings for Internet and MMS from there (the previous ones were from Nokia which were put there by the Setting Wizard)
Then loaded Navicore, traffic switched on, choose access point set to Automatic. After a couple of seconds I get my GPS fix and no crash. Went into the menu and could see the 3.5g icon flashing at the top as its making a connection then become solid. Shortly afterwards went into Menu -> View -> Traffic Situation and it lists traffic problems. Then I plotted a route to a location about 110 miles away. Plotted correctly and the summary map showed traffic along the route and surrounding area. Stood by the window for a minute or so and no crash. I'm not going out to walk around anywhere at the moment, but this is much better that what I had before.
Oh excellent!
I am just testing this out now, BUT TYPICALLY the T-Mobile website is undergoing maintanaince!!
But I shall defintalty check this out asap!
yes, my APs were from T-Mobile and not Nokia. Might be a difference there, as you're finding out. Keep at it.
Mine's been sitting in the corner of the room with Navicore running for about 15-20 mins now with a route planned. I've updated the traffic manualy a couple of times and its set to do it automatically every 10 mins and so far so good.

LET'S CELEBRATE!
Well this is goooood news! Well done for figuring that out!
But I am concerned because when you try to connect using the wlan it crashed?
I am presuming it will still do it?
I have to admit I've never tried it with wlan but someone else reported that their E90 crashed when they tried to connect via wifi. I might have a look into it later on today if I get a chance.
I email Navicore last night to let them know of the fix so they can let anyone else who might've contacted them over this know.
