when playing a video through my tv there is no sound coming from my tv the sound comes from my phone.i have turned my tv volume up and it still makes no difference.can anybody help me with this problem or is this the norm.

Not the norm! Should have sound from TV and none frrom phone. Could you have reversed the red and white leads? If not might be worth trying that anyway.

As said, the sounds should be coming from the TV unit rather than your N95. Are you sure you have got the jack pushed all the way in your N95? That's the only thing I can think of why the sound would be coming out from it rather than the TV.
The red/white sound plugs won't make I believe if they were switched or not, since they are only the sound for the left and right channel. Doesn't make a difference either way.

Should be working, may be the connections on the cable or the connections on the TV. I must say the TV out cables aint very good quality, i have to shake the cable to get a signal on mine
If you know somebody with the same phone try their cable, may do the trick
