I need to buy a phone, and N70 with the ad-15 adapter (3.5mm jack) with Powermp3 app satisfied me. There was bass, good volume etc.
How is it with N73 ME? I hear it lacks bass and volume is not high? Can it be fixed with 3rd party apps like Powermp3? I'm only looking for quality through headphones.
The N73ME needs no 3rd party apps to sound good. All I would recommend is that you get the AD-41 connector to allow you to use decent headphones with a 3.5mm jack. My N73ME has good sound across the spectrum and good volume too.
i think its poo myself, the radio is great, loud and clear but the music player is far from good. there is a large lack of bass and its not very loud, i tryed the normal headphones that came with it and i got the 3.5mm adapter and myown headphones and still no difference. i tryed running the audio as a input on my computer and with the volume at max on the computer its still very poor even after messing around with all the audio options on the phone.
the loud speaker is great tho.
Well, I run the AD-41 and use some Creative Labs earphones (the little "bud" type) and the bass on mine is great. Don't forget, the quality of the audio files can contribute too.
If I'm to draw a comparison, my N73ME sounds as good as my iPod.
Plus, it's a lot more useful 😉
i use Sennheiser CX300 and the best way to discribe the sound would be to say its sounds like a old tape player, its all crackleing, background noise and very "tinny".
but like i said before the loud speaker is great, could i have a falty adapter? it is this one
That's the one, but I have heard numerous reports of fake adpaters selling on eBay. Maybe that's the problem ?
The headphones which came with the N73 ME suck. I bought new ones immediately (Sennheiser PX200). They lack of bass but changing the equalizer settings so that the bass is almost at maximum and others minimum helps a lot. There is some background noise but it doesn't bother me at all (with lower volumes you can hear it). And it gives out volume even too much, even the lowest setting is too high for my headphones.
Most of the cheap adapters you buy on Ebay are not stereo so will sound poo. The nokia branded 3.5mm adapter is Stereo.
I tried using my N70 and N73 as Music players, but just found they didn't go quite loud enough. Which is a shame, because now I have to carry two items around with me!

I agree to that. Purchased one myself. The microphone is seriously sensitive and non of the buttons work. The sound quality was really pure but after purchasing a genuine one... I was astounded. I threw away my iPod as the result.
I found the sound quality on the N73 to be pretty good. In fact, through the Moto S9s, with the stereo widening (which is quite well done, much better than the same feature on the K800), it was very, very good.
Shame the S9s are one of the most unreliable pieces of kit I've ever used.
