E61 push email with other email return addy?

Hi all,

First post here, did a good bit of lurking and searching, no answer yet. I have an E61, using T-Mobile with the Blackberry Connect plan.

My question, is it possible to get push mail, and have my reply address look like it's coming from my regular "myself at mydomain dot com" address?

1) With Blackberry email set up for "myself at mydomain dot com" , I get emails fast, and a reply from me will have the correct "reply to" address, HOWEVER it will say "mailed-by srs.bis.na.blackberry.com" which kind of spoils the whole "I'm out of the office, but my clients can't tell" appeal of Blackberry email.

2) I tried setting up "myself at mydomain dot com" just using the E61 POP3 settings. Using this, creating and replying to emails looks as it should. HOWEVER, no push email. From my understanding, the fastest it can pull is every 30 min, correct?

Is there a solution that gives me the best of both? Fast email and a clean "reply-to" address? Even better, is there a free solution out there, or some settings I'm not noticing, on the E61? Thanks for any and all help! Really like the device and the OS so far, first time with a Symbian phone.

This "push" email business is over-rated and over-priced.

I use IMAP set to check say every 30 mins. However because of bugs in the firmware sometimes the messaging app doesn't disconnect and stays connected, when this happens as soon as I get new mail on the server my phone knows about it immediately so it's practically same as "push" email (without the ripoff costs).

Thanks for replying... I did look into IMAP but my provider offers only POP3. I do agree that push mail is overpriced, which is why I'm hoping to find something that doesn't cost more than I already pay. In my case I'm using a data-only plan, and the Blackberry plan happens to be the cheapest one, so it's like the BB email feature is a bonus, in a way.

OK, but when you say

HOWEVER it will say "mailed-by srs.bis.na.blackberry.com"
Is this a header that is added, or does it actually get added into the contents (body) of the mail? And presumably this is only for outgoing mail? When you setup your account can't you specify a different (non-BB) outgoing mailserver?

Yes it's at the top, under the subject. Not in the body of the email. And yes, only for outgoing mail. The only selection that can be made for mailserver is for incoming mail, I guess outgoing has to be sent thru BB.

Right now, as a workaround, I have "myself at mydomain dot com" forward to a Gmail address, and I have the "reply to" in Gmail set to "myself at mydomain dot com".

The Gmail account is set up via the BB page on the T-Mobile site. It's not perfect but it seems quicker than just using POP3 directly on the E61, because emails just show up instead of having to connect to get them.

And instead of saying "mailed-by srs.bis.na.blackberry.com" it says "mailed-by gmail.com" which is a little less obvious looking.

Would still love to find a better way.
