Disabling the Welcome application?

4 replies · 2,185 views · Started 22 September 2007

Is there any way to disable the Welcome application so that it doesn't run every time my N95 starts up? I don't want to remove this application; I just want to keep it from running automatically upon boot-up.

Thanks in advance.

Why not delete it? If you don't want it why keep it?

Even if you delete the Welcome App, it can be restored by a Formatting the internal memory (*#7370#) or after a Firmware Upgrade.

Well, I do want to keep the Welcome application. I just don't want it to run automatically every time I start up my N95. I still want to be able to manually invoke it when desired or needed.

I didn't know about *#7370#, so thanks. Maybe I can live with that option. But before I delete Welcome completely and rely on formatting the internal memory if I ever want to restore it, I want to make sure that I understand what will happen to the rest of my N95 configuration if I reformat internal memory. Will my N95 go back to all of the default factory settings, or does this reformatting only affect the Welcome application?

Thanks.

*#7370# will reset your N95 back to factory settings (you'll lose all personal data).

I found that if I said "yes" to the Welcome app, and went through at least one aspect of it (rather than pressing "cancel" or quitting half-way through), it stopped bugging me every time I switched on.

Aha! That worked for me. Thank you very much!
