Five Essentials for the Traveller
One thing of note about your honorable mention of windows live, is that you can easily chat via msn by adding im.bitlbee.org as a server in WirelessIRC. It'll easily walk you through the entire setup once you connect to that server.
Bitlbee allows for all your IM accounts to be routed through their IRC server (im.bitlbee.org), and makes WirelessIRC just that much more dominant as the best connected/chat application on the S60 market.
