Hi, I was wondering if there was a software for Push email scheduling ? Basically it has to check for new email like after 10 mins or 5 mins etc. Keeping push email settings drain out the battery so was looking for an alternative.
Does any software out there does this scheduling for emails ?
Thanks and regards.
For the sake of clarity, is this correct:
You realise that Push email and scheduled downloading (polling) of emails are generally polar opposites in retrieving email
You are subscribed to a push email service, perhaps as a requirement of your work
You find this is causing battery drain as you are just too popular, so you would like to only download your email at specific intervals?
I certainly don't know of any systems like this, but then it is an unusual request from what I know. Have you spoken to your it department to see if there are other ways of polling your email account via normal pop/imap methods?
Well i could use the wap setting of my service provider to check emails when i want, but the push email settings keep the connection on "always" and since its a package in itself its cheaper than using the normal wap to get email.
Hence wanted something that disconnects and connects at pre defined intervals. like every 10 mins it should connect to the push email service and then after checking/downloading the mail, disconnect.
Thanks in advance ..
The builtin mail client already does interval checking. But because of some bug it does not always disconnect after checking. NB with GPRS (and above) you'll get charged by the actual amount of data transferred and not by the amount of time connected. So staying connected all the time won't cost you much more money (and if no data is transferred it doesn't decrease your battery life by much either).
