N95 as USB Modem / Proxy Disaster

3 replies · 6,874 views · Started 01 October 2007

Hi there,

Facts.... German T-Mobile .. using the N95 thru PC Suite as USB Modem to connect on my laptop. Spent many hours with T-Mobile support.. no success.

Problem: It connects all fine and flawless... but apparently through a Proxy as I do not get a "direct" connection and all Urls are altered

Example: After having established connection, I right click on any image .. and as path I get...

123.345.667.34/domain.nett/images/image.jpg

instead of

domain.net/images/image.jpg

Went through all settings with t-mobile and also have direct (slow) instead of fast connection enabled in t-mobile sped manager... still same problem though. For just browsing it does not matter, but I am blogging from abroad and trying to add an image with an absolute Url to my blog .. it'll take the altered path and, therefore, screw everything up.

Anybody any ideas...?

HELP !! 😮 :con?

I suspect it's t-mobile in germany that is doing the screwing. I have same experience with three network in the UK. All traffic is forced to go through proxy. Interestingly enough, t-mobile UK allows direct connection which is great! So for internet I only use t-mobile in the UK. Also no problems with VPN traffic with them.

Yup .. of course it's T-Mobile but they don't get their act together. In that speed manager there is this fast setting which obviously goes through a proxy.. but that's not selected. and the "normal" access should provide direct non-proxy access.. it doesn't though ..

It's a miracle 🙄 .. t-mobile got the problem sorted out! (after weeks) .. Solution ... the standard access point to connect is internet.t-mobile. This one hits a firewall, which screws up everything. They now did setup a second access point for me (ca.t-mobile), which has no firewall and. surprise surprise.. it works perfectly. The access point you define in PC Suite / Internet Connection / Manually configure settings

Just wanted to let folks know...
