Dual sim holders

Ok, so i've seen these on ebay.

Does anyone have one? whats the verdict? are there any downsides?

I had one for my N70 and it was quite handy. I only discovered a couple of problems with them:

  • You can only use one sim at a time, so if you're on sim 1 and someone calls the number for sim 2, they won't get through.
  • If you have a problem with the phone and have to turn it off, it will switch to the other sim upon bootup.
It's probably better to have sims in separate phones if you can. Now that I have an N95, I have my 2nd sim in my N70.

Hey there.

I had a 'Super Ghost SIM' in my N95 for a couple of months. It allows you to switch SIMs via the menu, which takes about 20 seconds. I found it very handy.

However:
It almost halved my battery life (N95)
It was so tight behind the battery, it almost damaged the cover

If you can get the one that requires you to cut down your SIMs, to fit 2 into the space of 1, it could be handy.

But the battery drain was too much for me

I agree with everything Andy said. The battery drain of a Dual-Sim adapter was unacceptable.

Mmm, thanks guys, slightly worrying about the battery drain - however I have one of the 1200maH batteries, so hopefully it wont be as noticeable?

Also, about the battery case being a very tight fit - I have the capdase silicone thing, which I hope will reduce my worries there.

Have you known it to cause actual instability within the actual running of the phone?

Hey again DigiDan.

Do you actually have an official Nokia BL-6F? Would you mind sharing where you got it?

As for stability, I noticed that it would occasionally (maybe 1 in 10) switches, 'crash'. By 'Crash' I mean, it would not change to the other SIM, just stay with no signal.

You could fix this by changing back to the first SIM though.

In my opinion, it's not worth buying right now.

ALSO NOTE:
Mine was the 'Super Ghost SIM' which did NOT require you to cut down your SIM cards to fit into one slot. That one has limited 3G support, if i recall rightly.

Mine required that you put one SIM behind the battery (inbetween battery and rear cover plate)

This used to press against the plate and almost broke it, which is why I stopped using it.

If you have a BL-6F and are using a silicone skin it may work OK

Hi,

No, my N95 was perfectly stable using the Dual Sim but battery life was under 8 hours, even with few calls and text and no WiFi use.
