Headset use & N95

Did a quick search on this board for related questions but couldn't find anything close to my question, so here we go:

Whenever I am using a headset on my N95, incoming calls and sms tones are still *ONLY* played on the phone's speakers.

Maybe I am just too dumb to understand something here, but aren't those ringtones supposed to be played on the headset only once it's plugged in?

thx!

Quick questions back - have you selected the correct profile when you plug in your headset or, have you altered the profile in any way, and, is your headset compatible?

Hi, I am using the standard profile ("general"😉 which hasn't been altered in any way. The headset is the one that came shipped with the N95. Thx!

The tones play on the headset AND the phone, useful if you are not wearing the headset all the time.

When you plug the headset in do you get the headset icon on the standby screen of the phone? If not, it sounds like there is a problem with either the headset or the phone.

Start by trying an ordinary pair of earphones to see what is the cause of the problem.

Well, the problem is that all ringtones actually do not play on the headphones, but only on the speakers. And that even though the headset symbol shows up and music is played through the headset only.

In other words - with the headsets plugged in:

music => headset
ringtones / (call & sms & email) => loudspeakers
