abuse at blueheadsets.com

I recently purchased a bluetooth headset at bluetoothheadsets.com. The price and shipping was very good, but the abusive attitude from the 'returns department' was beyond anything i've experienced on the web. Buy from this company only if you enjoy being abused.

You can see by posts on this site and others at resellerratings.com that this is a pattern, not an exception. The owner, Mark Hritz, spends too much time trying to explain why he's right rather than fixing the problem.

Here's my experience:

The headset fit poorly and didn't work well in the car - too much background noise for the other party. When a return was requested, the response came with an attitude:

"Problem is with your Samsung...there's a warning on our website under MORE INFORMATION which you stated you read when you placed your order: Question: I have read and accept the policies listed in the left margin under 'More Information'. Answer: Yes. Although the Blackjack isn't mentioned by name it's a Samsung phone so the problem is still present."

Needless to say, the poor fit of the headset had nothing to do with my phone. After the chiding, I re-read the fine print he referred too. It basically said that all Samsung, LG, Treo and Blackberry phones may have problems. Not very useful and not very accurate.

I re-explained the issues; poor fit, poor handling of background noise despite claims and despite much better results from a plantronics headset. I also added that I was not happy with the 20% restocking fee after seeing the "money back guarantee" promises in big type on their web sight. Much to my suprise, this is the response I received:

"Your phone. Your purchase. Your responsibility to do the research. But it's typical of assholes like yourself to simply blame others for something that's your own fault. If you thought the restocking fee was an insult then why did you even make the purchase in the first place? Oh wait, that's right...typical of assholes like yourself you checked off that you read the policies even though you really didn't. Yep, you're a typical asshole."

The only research I should have done was on his business (and his other business Alphanetproducts.com) and realizing this is not a company anyone should do business with. If you need a headset, I suggest you go to a real company.

Sadly its very easy nowadays to setup a webby, and get cheap stock in.

Theres quite a lot of these one man band sites about. Not all are bad, but if things go wrong theres only one person to deal with it.

That address is for Network Solutions' private registration service, not where BlueHeadsets.com is located; it looks like Network Solutions would forward post and probably emails though.

It's also illegal to send you an abusive email, under the Malicious Communications Act (2000, I think).

Yep, kept the emails. Oddly enough, the company shipped the product quickly and applied the return credity quickly. Beyond a business model that profits from restocking charges, my only issue was the bad attitude.
