Video Recording Length on N95?

11 replies · 3,921 views · Started 04 October 2007

Hiya,

I've noticed that on the N95 the maximum video record time for a single video is 59:59 seconds - is that right?

The thing is, i have a need to record over this limit....without having to stop the file and start a new one!

Is there any way to do this?

59:59 is the max record time

no I haven't found a way around it.

couple of thoughts
battery drain on long recordings is pretty high .. so hopefully you have a fully charged phone before doing your long recordings or you can use a charger of some type.
you could use the 95 as a "web-cam" either wired or wireless (trendcam or wwigo) but that does kinda defeat the purpose.
might be worth looking for third party video recording options.

cheers

Just to inform of the reason why i need this.....

Basically i am a DJ, and an MC, who runs his own website - now what i would like to do is record my sets through my laptop (for the Audio) and then also have a copy of the set on video, at which point i can use a program like Sony Vegas, to match the Video with the high quality audio, to create a DJ/MC DVD style for my site visitors to view.

The problem with the 59:59, is that sometimes, the sets will be longer than your simple hour, so would cut off, and stop me from being able to match up the audio correctly! LOL!

If you are going to be using it for advertisement would it not be worth getting/borrowing someones digital video recorder and doing it properly rather than off a phone?!

Clearly because the quality is good enough and the best camera/Video recorder you can have is the one you have with you at the moment!

It wont nessecarily be advertisement, and to be fair, ill be honest, the quality on the N95 is more than sufficient for what i want it for.

The thing is, if i do a set at someones house too, just randomly, then ill need to get a mate with a camcorder to do it with.

My N95 is perfect for the job (apart from the time limitation hehe) 😊

It was a joke 🙄 If you dont get the joke then dont bother replying or go and watch a certain YouTube video ( 8No35aomeok ) for enligtenment.

Knowing Nokia it most likely IS something stupid like this they have often been known do do something annoying like this to avoid breaking some obscure law such as the beeping in phone recording.

Why not use the N95 as your video camera then .. since you're using your laptop to record sound ..

no resyncing with vegas or cubase or whatever

Cheers

The only problem with this is the fact that the N95 wont always be stationary behind the decks like the laptop will be 😞

So its a struggle for times that i wont be keeping them together
can you suggest a software i can use for when they are together though so i can use the phone as my camera?
