N95 on 3 UK

All,

What has been your experience with 3's N95? Does it come with the newest firmware? At the very least I would like to be able to use my 4GB card with it... Also, how about stripping features? I understand they have removed the VoIP client, but what about other things? Anything at all?

What about their 5 Internet Max add-on? Is it really unrestricted enough in terms of you allowing you to use different services in addition to web browsing and email? How does that compare with the X-Series Silver option?

I really don't want to sign up for an 18 month contract and get disappointed on day 1!!

Thanks,
Luiz

I don't have a 3UK N95, but I can tell you that they come with the latest firmware and will work with a 4GB microSDHC card.

I've never been a 3 customer, but I was considering it - and hence, is there any reason to get the £5 Internet add-on, when X-Series Silver is the same price but gives you more? I thought the Internet add-on was only really for phones without X-Series.

Mithent, my point in asking the difference between the Internet and X-Series Silver add-ons was exactly because I could not find a difference. Maybe you have the answer after all: if you have an "X-Series enabled" phone, there's no point in buying the Internet add-on.

Also thanks for the info regarding the firmware.

Anyone else out there with a 3 N95 to comment on features 3 may have stripped? I even heard in some forum that WiFi was not enabled.....

Thanks.

All hardware features are enabled. it depends on where you live with the software installed on it, though most places should have ruffly the same programs installed on it.

Ellmondo, I appreciate it is the same phone with the same OS on it, but my point is exactly which features have been disabled (or added, to be fair) by 3. I've used a Nokia non-carrier N95 before and I want to make sure I get the same from 3.

Also on Internet access, if you have any insight on their add-ons, whether/which sites and services are blocked in particular, I'd be happy to hear it.

Thanks.

Well, 3 (UK) state that the phone has MSN Messenger, Skype, Yahoo messenger, and a whole host of other apps - given none of them are available on a standard N95, they have definitely added some extra software in there.

I thought (though do not know for sure) that the 3UK internet access was pretty much unrestricted.

The firmware is definitely the latest (ie v12), as 3UK waited until this was available before releasing the phone at all.

I'm not sure on the VOIP client - the only limitation I'm aware of is that they have removed the WLAN scanning option from the standby screen.

X-Series Silver gives you 10,000 MSN messages, 5,000 Skype minutes, mobile email and ebay access, PLUS 1Gb of internet data (for 5)

Internet Unlimited is 1Gb of internet data (for 5)

So, X-Series offer you MSN, Skype, email and ebay, and none of these come out of your 1Gb limit, so it definitely offers more on those phones that support it.

Hi
I have a Nokia N95 (bought from Ebay) and have upgraded it myself to the latest firmware.
In my opinion my 3uk contract is the best value one i have ever had
It is an 18month contract and now that the introductory offers have worn off, i'm on Xseries Silver with the £5 data upgrade 300 mins and 1000 texts (was doubled for first 6 months).
you also get £5 of add-ons to use for dial tunes and ringtone downloads included
All in all £35.00 per month for one very happy customer

Hi,

Does anyone know the planet3 homepage address within the mobile?

I've got a vanilla N95 and would like to setup planet3, I know it'll work but I need the url for the homepage.

I'm loving this N95!
