USB cable not charging phone?

When I connect my Nokia 6120 to the USB cable to operate with PC Suite, I've noticed that it doesn't charge my phone.

I've had other Nokias in the past and they usually would charge through connection to the USB cable.

The cable is the genuine Nokia DKE-2 cable, and I am using a genuine copy of PC Suite. I just can't understand why it wouldn't charge?

Yes... my cables are connected at both ends

The USB cable does not charge the phone.

If you want to charge it via USB, you'll need Nokia's CA-100 adapter, which takes power from a(nother) USB port and feeds it to the power socket. If you want to use PC Suite at the same time, you'll need two USB sockets on your PC.

Ok thankyou.

I did not know that Nokia USB cables weren't compatible for charging... bit annoying...

Anyways, I've had some Nokias in the past that were able to charge through using an aftermarket USB cable purchased from ebay. I think it was a Mobile Action MA-8620 perhaps... something like that. The driver for it came on a CD. When I would connect my 5140 and my fiance's N70 it would charge... so I presumed that the Nokia USB cables would charge as well.
